Raising a decision to someone with greater authority when it cannot be resolved at the current level
What's it for?
Gets a decision from someone with enough authority when the current team cannot resolve it.
For example…
Two project teams cannot agree which launch date takes priority, so the programme manager uses decision escalation to ask the steering group to decide
A design choice exceeds the architect's delegated authority, so it is escalated to the technology director rather than left unresolved
