Data modelling - Concept
Eventual consistency
Allowing copies of data to be briefly different, provided they converge later
What's it for?
Lets separate copies of information catch up with one another shortly after a change instead of needing to agree instantly.
For example…
A user's new profile photo appears immediately in one service but takes a few seconds to reach another; eventual consistency allows the copies to converge shortly afterwards
After stock is updated in one region, another region may briefly show the old quantity before replication catches up.
