What's it for?
Shows who is responsible for each step in a process so handoffs between teams are easy to see.
For example…
A new-starter swimlane diagram puts HR, the manager and IT in separate lanes so everyone can see who owns each handoff
An invoice swimlane shows procurement approving the purchase, the supplier sending the invoice and finance checking and paying it
