What's it for?
Lets information or a system be restored to a specific moment before something went wrong.
For example…
A damaged database is restored to its state two minutes earlier
After bad data is loaded at 14:30, the database uses PIT recovery to restore its state at 14:29 so the corrupt changes disappear
